Our Curriculum

Research based approach to learning

The Mother goose time curriculum applies child development theories and brain research to a unique model of teacher support, child experience and family engagement.

The view of the child

Every child is full of potential, naturally curious and important to the community.

The role of the teacher

The teacher is a learner alongside the child. As a researcher and guide, the teacher offers resources and support.

The role of the environment

Children explore their environment to experiment with ideas, manipulate materials and construct knowledge.

The role of the family

Families are central to the intellectual and social growth of the child. Family culture and beliefs add beauty to the school community.

Our Philosophy

I strive to provide a welcoming, safe, stimulating, creative, and nurturing environment for children of all ages.  I want to be a source of information and support for the parents as well as the children, and I want the families to feel welcome in our home.  I encourage the children to try new things, ask many questions, explore ideas, and discover who they are and who they can become! I provide exposure to many different ideas and experiences to help children learn and grow.  I teach children life skills such as learning how to share, taking turns, following directions, and using words to solve problems.  I provide unconditional love and emotional security, a sense of routine, and an opportunity for every child to be curious, creative, independent, and playful. Children learn best by doing, which includes playing, working on various activities, and experiencing everyday challenges.  Our curriculum balances educational activities with free play, both indoors and outdoors.  Our main principle is to promote participation in age-appropriate activities, such as unstructured hands-on play, guided play, group story time, circle time, and themed activities.  Kids are encouraged to learn through play!   We offer a mixed age program.

Parent Reviews

My daughter has been attending Jackson Family Daycare for several years and has flourished there. She had a negative experience at another daycare and never adapted to it so after a few months we stopped sending her there. Thankfully we found Jackson Family Daycare and from the first time she walked in the door she was made to feel welcome and she took to the new routine very quickly. The atmosphere there is warm and loving and Jeanna and Darrell Jackson care for the children in a gentle but firm manner. They have an organized routine with story telling, fun and educational projects, daily indoor and outdoor playtimes, and nutritious meals. They have a variety of fun and engaging toys to play with inside that help develop motor skills, cooperative playing, and problem solving. The outdoor play area is a wonderful space with larger toys that encourage the children to use their bodies and develop strength and balance. All the toys, indoor and out, are clean and in good condition. My daughter starts kindergarten in the fall and is already talking about how she will miss Jeanna and Darrell and their two children. I am fortunate to have found this daycare and feel that it has had a very positive influence on my daughters development.
